Born in 1969,Rufus joined Rovers in 1988 at the age of 19.He made 109 appearances over a period of 3 seasons before joining QPR in 1991 for £275,000.
Over 7 years in London,he only scored once despite making over 150 appearances at Loftus Road.He moved to fellow Londoners Fulham when his deal expired in June 1998,where he made under 200 appearances.
During his time at Fulham,he was notable for horrifically breaking Clark Carlisle's leg against ex-club QPR in 2001.The injury ripped Carlisle's hamstrings and broke his tibia,fibia and patella.The injury kept him out of the game for 2 years.
He moved to West Ham in 2003 and made 25 appearances and scored once-away at Crewe in 2004.He left Upton Park for Plymouth in 2005 and then Oxford Utd on non-contract terms.He retired in 2007.
Since retiring,Rufus has worked for BBC 5 Live and has worked at Swindon Town.
He now lives with his partner in Birmingham.
