FINISHED FIRST:ROUND ONE UPSETS

There were a fair share of upsets in the League Cup as always,some more shocking than others.

The biggest one was Newport's win at Brighton.The Welshmen had only earned promotion back to the Football League this year but won their opening fixture-a 4-1 win at home to Accrington-and have kicked the Seagulls out of the cup with a 3-1 win.Danny Crow scored twice in the game.

Lower rivals knocked out their giants.Rotherham beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 and Preston left it late to beat Blackpool.

Another shock was Morecambe's win at the Globe Arena against Kenny Jackett's Wolves.Ryan Williams scored a free kick after 84 minutes.

Goals from Richard Hinds and Shaun Harrad's spot kick helped Bury in a 3-2 win over League One Crewe at Gigg Lane whilst two extra-time goals saw Cheltenham beat Crawley 4-3 in Gloucestershire.

The other shocks were Stevenage's win at home to Ipswich thanks to Jordan Burrow's goals and Accrington coming back to knock out promotion chasing Middlesbrough.
