DONCASTER 1-3 LEEDS UNITED

Doncaster were dumped out of the Capital One Cup by a dominant Leeds United team in the Yorkshire derby.

With sixteen minutes gone,Leeds had a chance.6'6" Matt Smith's effort was held by Ross Turnbull in the Donny goal.

After half an hour,it was the home side who had a go.James Husband outsmarted Lee Peltier before setting up Coppinger. However, the midfielder's shot was saved by Paddy Kenny.

Just as Rovers looked to have clicked,Leeds went ahead.Scott Wootton only joined United on Monday, but the defender's header hit the top right corner.

In the second half,Dom Poleon ran down the by-line but was tackled brilliantly by Dean Furman. But with 62 minutes gone,David Cotterill crossed a ball for ex-Leeds forward Billy Paynter-who equalised.

Two years ago,Matt Smith was at University studying law.On Tuesday,he scored Leeds' second after 77 minutes.

And three minutes later, the final nail was added to the coffin for Rovers.Dom Poleon was fouled in the box,up stepped Ross McCormack who fired the resulting penalty past Turnbull to inflict a 3-1 scoreline on Doncaster.

LEEDS' DEFENDER JASON PEARCE:
