KIWOMYA:"CLUBS HAVE TO DIVERSIFY"

Notts County manager Chris Kiwomya has expressed his opinions to BBC Nottingham about how the lack of black managers in the game is having an impact.

Along with Chris Powell(Charlton),Paul Ince(Blackpool) and former Lincoln and Macclesfield Boss Keith Alexander(who passed away in 2010),Kiwomya is part of the minority.

"I think the fact the lack of black managers in football has led to this minority being seen as lower to the rest of the managers,Kiwomya explained,"White managers make up 95% of the game, and then there are only about 5 black managers in England.Because of this,I feel they get groaned at slightly because it is something that hasn't been in existence for long."

When Keith Alexander was appointed Lincoln City manager in April 1994,he became Britain's first ever permanent black manager. This was a huge turning point in the game for the game.Tragically,he died of a brain aneurysm shortly after a game with Macclesfield Town aged just 51.

"Clubs need to diversify in order to fully accept black managers nowadays. It will eventually become more common to see a manager of a different coloured skin in about ten years",said Kiwomya.
