The former Welsh international took up the role if Director of Football in May shortly after winning promotion.
'I just knew we'd beat them',said Flynn,'I don't know how but I knew we were good enough to do so'.
It's not the first time Flynn has felt such drama.Wind the clocks back to April 2003.
Flynn was managing Swansea, who were one game away from dropping out of the Football League. The opponents were Hull City who visited the old Vetch Field in 14th place. It was a must win game for the Swans.
At half time,Swansea were 2-1 down.Despite Swansea-born James Thomas opening the scoring with a penalty,Hull scored two goals late in the half.
'I told the lads to keep going. We were in a bad position losing at the break but I knew a bit of belief would see us through',Flynn explains
And belief did show.Swansea pulled one back through Leon Britton(who was on-loan at the time) and then took the lead through James Thomas' header on the hour mark.
Although Carl Regan pulled one back,Thomas completed his hat-trick in stoppage time to make the score 4-2.10,000 home fans were roaring;Swansea had survived and relegated Exeter City instead.
'I remember Roger Freestone(the Swans goalkeeper at the time) leading the celebrations with Alan Tate amongst the fans. There was a big party on a memorable day in the history of Swansea City FC.I remember it,and so do the fans.'
When Flynn was appointed Swansea manager in August 2002,he was looking at a side who had no confidence. However,as he says, work started very quickly.
'I built a new squad in about eight weeks. There were some loan deals which came in handy during the first few months of my reign. We had Neil Cutler and Leon Britton.I got Roberto Martinez in January 2003 on a permanent deal a d he impacted the game massively. He was outstanding under me'
Just like the survival day ten years ago,Flynn felt that Rovers did him as proud as Swansea.
Flynn was sacked as Swansea manager in March 2004 following a run of defeats and subsequently became the head coach of the Wales U21 side, developing players such as Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey into international superstars.
