ROVERS LEGEND #14:JOS VAN NIEUWSTADT

Jos joined Doncaster in 2008,going on to be a first-team regular for the Rovers.Despite only spending one season at the club,he was handed a different challenge.

Jos was born in Waalwijk,a city in The Netherlands,in November 1979.He left school in 1996 to join Willem II,the club noted for signing up Marc Overmars as a youngster.He became part of the first team in 1998 and spent eight years playing in Northern Holland before he signed for Eredivise (the top flight of Dutch football) newcomers Excelsior.
He was a popular defender at Excelsior and became adapted as a left back,although he was a centre back.Jos left the club in 2008 to join newly-promoted Doncaster.He described it as a 'adventure awaiting'.

Although he was a big signing,Jos,was injured a lot and only made 16 appearances.He was released at the end of the season.

Upon leaving Yorkshire,he moved back to Holland to play for lower league Cambuur and HSV Hoek,where he currently plays.
He lives in Hoek with his wife Maria.
