ROVERS LEGEND #4:RUSS WILCOX

6'0" defenders Wilcox had to work incredibly hard to get to the level he is at today.

Russ was born in 1964 in Hemsworth.At the age of 22 in 1986,he became a professional footballer after signing for Northampton Town.During a four-yeal-spell at Sixfields he made 137 appearances.

He moved to Brian Horton's Hull in 1990 and played for the Tigers for three years.He was released in May 1993 and moved to Doncaster subsequently.

Two years in South Yorkshire saw him make 81 appearances and scored 6 goals for Donny.He then had a brief spell at Preston before signing for Doncaster's rivals Scunthorpe as player-assistant manager to Brian Laws.He retired in 2003.

Since retiring,Russ has been caretaker at Scunthorpe,and followed Laws to Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley to work with him.After losing his job at Burnley,he went to AFC Bournemouth to assist Lee Bradbury and now is back at Scunthorpe.
