Theo Robinson joined Donny just yesterday and he suddenly became popular. He opened the scoring on his debut, heading a James Husband cross past Jake Kean after 37 minutes.
Blackburn tried to score before the break.Chris Taylor's header was brilliantly tipped wide by Ross Turnbull.
Doncaster hadn't played a game in 10 days due to Wigan's community shield match, but the rustiness looked like it'd been shaken off.
But it was Jake Kean who had to do all the work. The young goalkeeper had to stop strikes from Chris Brown,David Cotterill and Bongani Khumalo's free kick.
With the game coming up to the hour-mark,James Husband doubled the lead with a superb strike which left Blackburn having to work harder.
In a desperate attempt to salvage a goal back, striker Jordan Rhodes rounded Ross Turnbull after a throughball but the 23-year-old missed the target.
In stoppage time,U-21 midfielder Jason Lowe tried his luck for Blackburn, but he hit the crossbar.
VIEWS FROM THE TOUCHLINE
DONCASTER BOSS PAUL DICKOV:
'We were absolutely terrific today. We had full control of the first half and I feel that in the second half we continued to pressurise the opponents. This resulted in the victory'.
BLACKBURN BOSS GARY BOWYER:
'It is fair to say that they were a few incidents in the game in which we should have been awarded a penalty. However,we haven't been given any,and we were not good enough on the day'.
