DONCASTER 0-1 AFC BOURNEMOUTH

An goal from Brett Pitman in the first half gave Bournemouth their first away win this season.

Bournemouth have been crushed 6-1 and 4-1 away by Watford and Huddersfield, and straight away wanted to stop any chance of defeat.Brett Pitman met Charlie Daniels' cross but headed wide.

Fan favourite Brett Pitman re-signed for the Cherries in January this year and has now scored 17 times in 21 games. He added to the tally on the half-hour mark after heading home Charlie Daniels' free kick.

Rovers looked more promising in the second half, and tried their luck. But it wasn't to be-Richie Wellens fired a shot over after 55 minutes.

Bournemouth then went extremely close.Lewis Grabban's header was two yards from Ross Turnbull's goal, and the home keeper did superbly to tip the ball wide.

The stoppage time in the second half was a sign to Rovers that nothing was to come, but it was the away fans who will travel down south happier.

DONCASTER STRIKER CHRIS BROWN
"Today we slipped below standards and all need to look at ourselves and improve as a unit.It was disappointing, we didn't start very well and that was what triggered our downfall"

DONCASTER BOSS PAUL DICKOV
"It was very poor and disappointing and the standards that we set earlier in the season were not met today. We huffed and puffed today without having any real quality and the energy levels were low."

BOURNEMOUTH BOSS EDDIE HOWE
"It is a massively important win for us.We were regarded as the likely losers today considering the last two away games we have been crushed. We were going to be asked about the last two games, but the hard part is that people think you're lying when you say you're pleased with the performance today".

OVER AND OUT:ROUND TWO ROUND UP

The Capital One Cup Round Two has been interesting to say the least, with the possibility of upsets and excellent efforts.

Bristol City knocked out Premier League newcomers Crystal Palace 2-1.Goals from Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Scott Wagstaff won the match.

Meanwhile,Mauricio Pochettino's controlling Southampton demolished Barnsley at Oakwell.Gaston Ramirez added the fifth goal.Burnley also are through after beating rivals Preston 2-0.
An early goal from struggling Carlisle was cancelled out by Leicester City.Chris Wood's hat-trick,Lloyd Dyer's volley and Anthony Knockaert scored for The Foxes.Leicester's rivals Derby also went into the pot with a 5-0 win over League One Brentford; Will Hughes was amongst the scorers.

Doncaster were kicked out by Leeds, whereas Huddersfield came back to beat Charlton.Adam Hammill got the winner in a 3-2 win for Mark Robins' team.

Leyton Orient may have done fantastic to keep it 0-0 with Hull, but in extra time, young Robbie Brady scored a headed winner.

Liverpool were 2-0 up League One Notts County, but striker Yoann Arquin and 17-year-old Adam Coombes pulled back late on.However,Danny Sturridge and Jordan Henderson scored to make it 4-2 full time.

There was a total of nine goals at Carrow Road, where Norwich thrashed Bury 6-3.Bury fought back too late with goals from Anton Forrester,Jesse Reindorf and a strike from William Edjenguele. But one of the upsets was Peterborough's annihilation of Nigel Adkins' Reading.A great 6-0 win was helped to by goals from Jack Payne and Lee Tomlin.

Another upset was Swindon knocking out QPR in London.A free kick from Nile Ranger and teen Alex Pritchard rounded up the goals.Up north,MK Dons looked like beating a Sunderland side managed by Paolo Di Canio.Despite being 2-0 up,Sunderland went on to win 4-2.

In other news,West Ham beat Cheltenham 2-1 and West Brom debutant Saido Berhandio scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Newport.

All Birmingham,Tranmere Rovers and Fulham won on penalties.

On Wednesday,Accrington were knocked out by top flight Cardiff in a 2-0 win for the Bluebirds. However,Danish forward Andreas Cornelius was injured in the game.

Aston Villa also went through with a comfy 3-0 win at home to Rotherham.Andreas Weinmann scored the first goal.Everton won,but not so comfortably. They had to go into extra time to see off Stevenage in a 2-1 win.

Both Ameobis were on the scoresheet as Newcastle United went through away at Jim Bentley's Morecambe side.

It's getting worse now for Millwall-they haven't won yet in the league and were booted out by Nottingham Forest, despite a Liam Feeney header in the second half.

Elsewhere,Kenwyne Jones scored at hat-trick as Walsall exited at Stoke's expense and Watford beat Bournemouth 2-0,two weeks after winning 6-1 in the league.

DONCASTER 1-3 LEEDS UNITED

Doncaster were dumped out of the Capital One Cup by a dominant Leeds United team in the Yorkshire derby.

With sixteen minutes gone,Leeds had a chance.6'6" Matt Smith's effort was held by Ross Turnbull in the Donny goal.

After half an hour,it was the home side who had a go.James Husband outsmarted Lee Peltier before setting up Coppinger. However, the midfielder's shot was saved by Paddy Kenny.

Just as Rovers looked to have clicked,Leeds went ahead.Scott Wootton only joined United on Monday, but the defender's header hit the top right corner.

In the second half,Dom Poleon ran down the by-line but was tackled brilliantly by Dean Furman. But with 62 minutes gone,David Cotterill crossed a ball for ex-Leeds forward Billy Paynter-who equalised.

Two years ago,Matt Smith was at University studying law.On Tuesday,he scored Leeds' second after 77 minutes.

And three minutes later, the final nail was added to the coffin for Rovers.Dom Poleon was fouled in the box,up stepped Ross McCormack who fired the resulting penalty past Turnbull to inflict a 3-1 scoreline on Doncaster.

CHARLTON A-A DONCASTER

Charlton's game with Doncaster was abandoned at half time due to a waterlogged pitch, with Rovers 3-1 up.

Doncaster took the lead after five minutes, with Paul Keegan slotting the ball under Ben Hamer.

Ten minutes later, the rain started and it gradually became heavier. The conditions on the pitch became tougher, but Doncaster were able to extend the lead thanks to Chris Brown after eighteen minutes.

The ball was struggling to roll and parts of the pitch were becoming difficult.Brown, who is on fine form, made it 3-0 though with a header.

With only half an hour played, the referee stopped play with the rain lashing down. The groundsmen were busy on the pitch trying to remove the water, whilst both Charlton boss Chris Powell and Rovers' Rob Jones spoke with the officials.

Eventually, the game was given the go-ahead.Whatever did get said during the stoppage had an effect on Charlton.Simon Church struck a low ball under Turnbull after thirty-six minutes.

Shortly after Keegan was dismissed, the referee called the game off with the rain continuing to pour.

OPPONENTS GUIDE #3:WIGAN ATHELTIC (A)

Tuesday rearranged fixture sees Donny travel to Lancashire to play FA Cup holders Wigan.

Despite becoming notorious for staying up at the end of the season and winning the FA Cup this year,Wigan were relegated to the second tier. This led to lots of key players leaving but some new talent coming in.

This will be the 30th competitive meeting between the two clubs. The last time Rovers beat Wigan was in 1987.

THE GAFFER-OWEN COYLE
         COYLE HAS A GOOD CV
Owen Coyle is no stranger when it comes to these parts of England. He got Wigan's neighbours Burnley promoted into the Premier League in 2009,only to leave the club for Bolton a few months later. He was sacked by Bolton in October last year due to poor results. Now,the Scot is on board at Wigan and hopes to get them promoted.

ONE TO WATCH-CALLUM McMANAMAN
       CALLUM IS A GOOD PLAYER
This striker is one of Wigan's very own talents. He will be suspended for the match tomorrow, but his intelligent play and fast pace causes confusion for any opponent.

FORRESTER BECOMES A GARDENER

Harry Forrester,Doncaster's new midfielder, has been visiting Doncaster Lakeside Village to help out at a summer allotment workshop.

The 22-year-old,pictured above, swapped the pitch for a garden in the kids event. He helped to plant seeds and decorate plant pots with the youngsters.

When the plants have grown, they will be donated to the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

SPECIAL ARTICLE:LIKE FATHER,LIKE SON

Aged 9,all young Lee Johnson wanted to do was to kick a ball about in the garden, but his mum was strict about him doing so.Lee's dad had just been appointed the youth coach at Watford and she didn't want the new house ruining.

However, one day,a stray ball knocked over a plant pot and it smashed on the patio.Lee later felt his father's wrath at the dinner table.
    FATHER AND SON ON HOLIDAY
Wind the clocks forward 22 years.

The whole situation has changed.Gary has won promotion with Yeovil to the Championship in his second spell and Lee is the manager of Oldham. This is an extra special position for Johnson Jr-he is now the youngest manager in England at the aged of 32.

His dad Gary couldn't believe it when he'd found out his son had become a manager.

"I was absolutely delighted for him.He has been working up to this since he was 19.He asked me 'Dad,should I go for the vacant post at Oldham?'.I told him to go ahead and he beat 120 candidates for the job",said Gary.

Despite the success,Lee's mum and Gary's wife Karen has it the toughest.Although she was happy when her only child Lee had become a manager, she is stuck between her husband and son.

"Of course I am proud for both of them but I have to stay strong to Gary because I'm married to him.I sleep with him and live with him,"explains Karen who is sitting next to her loving husband.

FOLLOWING FOOTSTEPS

Lee signed for Arsenal as a 15-year-old schoolboy. After impressing for both Bruce Rioch and Arsene Wenger briefly,he was regarded as a skilful midfielder.

When Gary became Yeovil Town boss in 2001,Lee followed his dad to Somerset. It was a successful period for both of them who earned promotion to League Two in 2003 as champions.
             PROMOTION PARTY!
During a spell at Hearts,Lee heard that Gary had been appointed Bristol City manager. What happened?Yes-Lee moved to Bristol.

"I had to leave Hearts due to a transfer embargo and financial strains, says Lee in his Oldham office,"I moved fast to rejoin with my dad at Bristol City.It was not a good move at first. We lost our first game at home to Blackpool and fan told me that he didn't want me or my dad at the club after the game".

It got better.Gary won promotion to the Championship with City in 2006 and then took them to within one game of the top flight in 2008.

After spells at Peterborough Utd and Northampton,he returned to manage Yeovil in 2012.

DAD V LAD

Tuesday 16th April was a date for the League One calendar. It was Lee's Oldham at home against Gary's Yeovil. With Oldham aiming to stay in the league and Yeovil looking at promotion,it was a must-win for both.

Oldham won the match 1-0 and slightly dented the Glovers' chances of playoff semi finalists.Lee felt bad of his dad,and he could see it bothered him.But best was to come-Oldham survived and Yeovil were promoted to the second tier for the first time in their history.
LEE AS THE BOSS OF OLDHAM

END OF SEASON PLANS

Yeovil were in a party mood following their playoff final win and Lee's Oldham had stayed up.

"I didn't get to see my wife and daughter a lot and it hurt me a lot. However,I have moved to an apartment in Manchester with them both.My mum and dad came to mine for dinner on Tuesday night. It was nice for them as they haven't seen my kid Isabelle for a while",said Lee,"Even better,we went on holiday to Dubai at the end of the season-me,Isabelle,my missus and parents."

It was a holiday well deserved.

DICKOV TO SORT FAMILY ISSUES

Paul Dickov has started to resolve his family life in connection to his job as Doncaster manager.

Dickov, who is married and has three children, was considering moving his family to Doncaster but due to other commitments, the move has been stalled.

"I have decided to stay in a hotel in Doncaster and my family are based in Manchester at the home we live in.I have three children-one of which is starting her A-Levels soon and one who starts primary school next month.Moving them to Doncaster will disrupt the harmony,"says Dickov.

DONCASTER 2-0 BLACKBURN ROVERS

Doncaster secured their first league win under Paul Dickov as they beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0.

Theo Robinson joined Donny just yesterday and he suddenly became popular. He opened the scoring on his debut, heading a James Husband cross past Jake Kean after 37 minutes.

Blackburn tried to score before the break.Chris Taylor's header was brilliantly tipped wide by Ross Turnbull.

Doncaster hadn't played a game in 10 days due to Wigan's community shield match, but the rustiness looked like it'd been shaken off.

But it was Jake Kean who had to do all the work. The young goalkeeper had to stop strikes from Chris Brown,David Cotterill and Bongani Khumalo's free kick.

With the game coming up to the hour-mark,James Husband doubled the lead with a superb strike which left Blackburn having to work harder.

In a desperate attempt to salvage a goal back, striker Jordan Rhodes rounded Ross Turnbull after a throughball but the 23-year-old missed the target.

In stoppage time,U-21 midfielder Jason Lowe tried his luck for Blackburn, but he hit the crossbar.

VIEWS FROM THE TOUCHLINE
