ROVERS LEGEND #17:MARK ATKINS

Doncaster lad Mark had previously been a Premiership winner when he signed for Doncaster in 1999.

Mark was born in 1968.He signed for Blackburn in 1988 from Scunthorpe and was a crucial part of the midfield along with Tim Sheerwood in his tenure.He was part of the Rovers' rise to the Premier League in 1995.The squad then included Alan Shearer and Simon Grayson
The success was shortlived-soon after he had won the title,Mark moved to Wolves on transfer deadline day in 1995.He was twice a runner-up in the playoff finals with the Orange Army and even scored at Wembley.

He was released by Wolves in 1999 and subsequently signed for Doncaster under Ian Snodin.When Snodin was sacked in April 2000,Mark and teammate Dave aPenney became player-caretaker managers until the end of the season.

 His last club was Shrewsbury Town,where he spent two years at before retiring in 2003 at the age of 35.

Since he hung up his boots,Mark has been assistant manager at non-league sides Harrogate Town and Stalybridge Celtic.He now manages NPL club Matlock Town,a position he has held since 2008.
He still lives in Doncaster.
