The Italian has joined Doncaster on an initial one-month loan deal and could start against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Macheda worked as a delivery boy for his uncle back in Italy prior to his move to England,and scored twice in two games for United in 2008.
He has previously been loaned out to Stuttgart and QPR.
