DONCASTER ROVERS 1-3 PORT VALE

Port Vale'd first half brace was too much for Doncaster, who see their unbeaten start to the season ended by the Stoke side.

The first goal of the game fell to BEN WILLIAMSON,who scored his first ever professional career hattrick on Tuesday night against Hartlepool United.Williamson tapped in Chris Lines' rebounded header to give his side the lead with under half an hour gone.

Vale doubled the lead ten minutes later through striker TOM POPE.Pope slotted a neat finish under Jed Steer and scored his fourth goal in two games;a good start for him.CARL DICKINSON tripled the lead before the break with a low shot from a corner.

With Doncaster going into the second half trailing heavily,Harry Forrester looked like he could make an impact. He ran into the box and struck a low shot wide of the post.

Port Vale then pressurized from corners.Marshall struck a shot high and wide and Pope headed over from an O'Connor cross.

KYLE BENNETT scored a consolation goal on 75 minutes, but it wasn't enough to see Rovers through.Harry Forrester was later sent off for a foul.

DONCASTER BOSS PAUL DICKOV

"It's a bit of a harsh shoreline but we were outdone by a very good side at the end of the day."

"The manner we lost the goals with two corners and a throw-in is really poor from our point of view. People have designated roles in the team, they didn't fulfil that and you get punished for it."
