DONCASTER 0-2 BURNLEY

Burnley became league leaders after a superb 2-0 win away at Doncaster, who struggled for most of the game.

Burnley had the first real chance which fell to Danny Ings. The striker has big boots to fill if he's to play in the Premier League one day,and hoped to get his team off to a good start. But Ross Turnbull denied him.

It looked as though Doncaster were desperate to win.Fifteen minutes later,Federico Macheda neatly dribbled past the Clarets' defence, only for Heaton to pull off a fantastic save with his legs.

On the half-hour mark, tensions rose.Coppinger went in late on Ben Mee,with the latter going straight down clutching his leg.The Rovers midfielder was booked for his foul. And things would take a turn for the worst.

In stoppage time in the first half,Rob Jones unfairly slid into Sam Vokes to give away a penalty.Welshman Vokes duly put the ball into the bottom left, scoring his seventh goal this season.

Burnley were still pressurising the home side in the second half.Kieran Trippier headed in a corner but Rob Jones headed the ball over in the nick of time.

Before seventy minutes,Paul Quinn's corner was kept in by Khumalo, and the defender headed to Macheda. He looked very likely to finish off the good work, but struck over to his manager's anger.

With two minutes left to play of normal time,Burnley sealed all three points.Danny Ings ran down the wing and into the box.Confusion between Jones and Turnbull saw the giant skipper turn the ball into his own net.

The win sends Burnley above QPR in the table to top of the league, whereas Doncaster have only won twice so far.

VIEW FROM THE TOUCHLINE

DONCASTER BOSS PAUL DICKOV:
"We came up against one of the most in-form clubs in the country and knew what to expect.I give credit to Sean Dyche and his team for their win."

"They were better than us for sure but the harsh thing is,they did all the simple things well to win."
