DONCASTER ROVERS 3-0 WIGAN ATHELTIC

High-flying Wigan suffered a serious reality check after shockingly losing against relegation candidates Doncaster, who bag their first win of the calendar year in style.

It only took five minutes for the deadlock to be broken by the home team.CHRIS BROWN met the cross of Paul Keegan on his right foot to curve a stab at the ball under the advancing Ali Al-Habsi in the Wigan net.

The first half saw little chances for Wigan and the bet highlight was from Nick Powell, the superstar of the club.Shortly after Husband had missed a sitter,Powell broke down the wing but couldn't find room to cross.Nicky Maynard had a header caught by Turnbull on fifteen minutes.

Before the break,Wigan suffered a very late scare.Coppinger crossed for Forrester;he had his header cleared by Emmerson Boyce only to Richie Wellens to shoot over.

Some goalline technology would be in question about the second goal.Brown had a shot blocked by the goalkeeper,Coppinger set up Wellens to shoot. The ball appeared to go over the line-the referee gave WELLENS the goal.2-0,fifty two minutes gone.

From sixty to seventy minutes, there was some penalty problems.Coppinger felt harshly treated when Keith Hill didn't award Rovers a spot kick for a foul to be redeemed when Husband tumbled over.CHRIS BROWN stepped up to score on sixty five minutes.

The last action saw Powell strike over in the eightieth minute. It is embarrassing for Wigan and Uwe Rösler has now been beaten by the underdogs.

VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

DONCASTER BOSS PAUL DICKOV
"I know Uwe well.We live near each other, played together at Manchester City and we keep in contact.I will speak to him after the game."

"The performance certainly contradicted our previous form. The mentality was exceptional and the performance the fans saw today has been the best we've played under me."

"Chris Brown has shown his capability as a striker at Championship level. He was the key to the win."

WIGAN BOSS UWE RÖSLER
"This is only a minor setback for us.Before we came to Doncaster, our form had been exceptional and today won't be a damper in the long run."

"I feel as though we made the wrong decisions in the game and paid the heavy price."

"We have to bounce back now because that's important and I'm looking forward to seeing a reaction from my players because collectively we were not at the races."
