Nothing came to much in the first half.Mark Duffy had a chance but Chris Day tipped it wide and just before half time,Stevenage's Luke Freeman headed over from a cross.
Something must've been said at the break by Graham Westley and the away side responded.A terrible mistake in the Rovers' defence by Paul Quinn set FRANÇOIS ZOKO free to slot the ball under Turnbull in such a composed manner after forty-nine minutes.
After the hour mark,it was 2-0 to Stevenage.A corner allowed an unmarked PETER HARTLEY to head into the goal.He sent the away fans cheering in delight to say Westley's team have lost seven on the trot.
Rovers seriously needed some insipratIon to revive themselves.Cue substitute HARRY FORRESTER to score on the eve of his 23rd birthday. The young midfielder managed to get on the end of Jon Ashton's clearance to fire in from twenty yards with twenty-five minutes left.
That goal had an effect and chances followed.Mark Duffy missed the target,Billy Paynter missed a sitter and Enda Stevens struck wide.
The ninety minute mark had approached and it was game over.Zoko found an approaching DARIUS CHARLES in the box who slotted the ball under Turnbull to send the away side through. The away bench were roaring in delight.
LIAM WAKEFIELD added anothe late on but it's the basement club in the third tier who head into the pot.
VIEWS FROM THE TOUCHLINE
DONCASTER BOSS PAUL DICKOV
"I am totally disgusted with the defeat.I had stressed that with Stevenage being the lowly side they'd be wanting it more than us.
"They worked harder than us and they won the game and the one thing you have to do in every game is go out there and give everything you have got and then start playing from there, whether it was because it was Stevenage and they were bottom of League One, maybe that crept into it a little bit."
"It is hard because we prepared them well and now no player in there can say they have not had a chance with me in there and it is something that is going to have to change."
STEVENAGE BOSS GRAHAM WESTLEY
"I went to Doncaster's game at QPR to monitor them. That has been worthwhile in preparing for the game and winning."
"My team can relate to Doncaster in terms of form as we haven't been winning which resulted in both mine and Paul's in relegation trouble. It is a condfidence booster after the result."
