Leyton Orient were originally formed by the Glyn Cricket Club in 1881,with most members college students.The team adapted the name Orient Football Club in 1888,and then Clapton Orient in 1899.They joined the Football League in 1905.
The club moved to Leyton in 1937 and after the war,they became Leyton Orient FC along with another London club named Leyton FC.The club were reverted back to Orient in 1966 and caused some financial damages.
The club permanently became Leyton Orient FC in 1987 following Tony Wood's takeover.The 1990s were a very tough time as financial problems arose,but the 2000s saw improvement.Martin Ling's appointment as manager was crucial.He guided the O's to League One in 2005 and they have stayed there since.
Ling left in January 2009 and Geraint Williams was appointed as manager.He was sacked a few months later and was replaced by Russell Slade.He guided Orient eventually to the 2013/14 playoffs,only to lose to Rotherham United.He left in October 2014.
THE GAFFER KEVIN NUGENT
As a player,Nugent was a striker in the lower leagues of the footballing pyramid,having two spells at Orient.
He began his career off at Leyton Orient and spent seven years as a player,making 94 appearances.The Londoner then joined Plymouth in 1992,spending three years at Home Park before playing at Bristol City and Cardiff City later on.
He reunited with Leyton Orient in 2002 and remained there for a season.Nugent then had a spell at Swansea before calling it a day in 2006.
His first coaching role was at Swansea and he was briefly caretaker manager in 2007.He was named Orient's youth team manager in July that year and has remained a member of the coaching staff since.
He's currently in caretaker charge following Russell Slade's departure.
HE PLAYED FOR BOTH GARY WOODS
Goalkeeper Gary had five years at Doncaster,joining from Cambridge United as a youngster.He was a regular in net later on into his time at Doncaster,before leaving in 2013 to join Watford and then Orient this summer.
