BURTON ALBION 0-3 DONCASTER

Doncaster Rovers successfully brushed aside League Two promotion favourites Burton Albion on a cold night at the Pirelli Stadium with a fantastic 3-0 win.

Doncaster took some time to get involved in the game, but took the lead on twenty-seven minutes.HARRY FORRESTER created an attacking move into Burton's area and passed to Coppinger, who whipped the ball into the path of Forrester to chest the ball and roll it into the net.A good start for the away side and their fans were delighted.

Richie Wellens then had a chance to double the lead but his shot was wide. But with five minutes to go before the break,Tyson was pushed over by Brewers' captain Ian Sharps for a penalty and a chance to double the lead.Tyson took it and fired his shot low under Dean Lyness, who was having a difficult night in goal.

Burton started the game stronger than Doncaster and repeated this in the second half.Palmer came close with a curling effort in the area and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff mistimed a header from a corner. It wasn't perfection from Gary Rowett's team but it was looking hopeful.

Youngster Mitchell Lund started for Doncaster and got involved in keeping out Jacob Blyth's shot and cleared a header by Phil Edwards off the line with thirty minutes left of normal time.Blyth then went on the attack alone and although he got the ball under the advancing Jed Steer, his shot painfully went wide of the post. This added to the Burton players' frustrating afternoon.

The game was more than over with two minutes left when Richie Wellens scored from outside the box.It was a brilliant win for Paul Dickov and his team, but Burton know they'll need to prepare for Saturday's away match at Northampton Town.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
BURTON BOSS GARY ROWETT

"Our form at the minute is becoming a cause for concern. We didn't play very well on Friday night against Cambridge and didnt seem to respond at all today and it's cost us a place in the next round of the JPT."

"It's said often but we are literally the cause of our downfall right now.We need to be more disciplined on pitch and I'm stamping my authority on the team.We seemed hungover from Friday and have a tough game at Northampton on Saturday."

DONCASTER BOSS PAUL DICKOV

"I'm pleased to progress in this competition. We will try our best in the JPT and going to Wembley for the squad and me as a manager would be an honour.Winning tonight puts more reality on that."

"It is a tough place to play at at the minute and we did well.Mitchell Lund impressed me and so did Harry Middleton when he came on.Nathan Tyson had a good game and topped his performance off with a goal."

"The younger players showed mature attitudes and I was encouraged by that."
