Yeovil grabbed a much-needed victory at home against Doncaster Rovers to ease their relegation fears slightly and show some fight.
Doncaster loanee Jordan Bowery got the game off to a decent start. He shot from thirty yards and tested the reflexes of Marek Stech. The only other chance of the half fell to Yeovil's Ishmael Miller and he struck over.
In the second half, the Glovers pressurized the Donny defence to the extreme in hope they'd crack at the back.Fifty minutes played, and Luke Ayling blasted a shot wide from a Byron Webster corner.
Things would become sour.Mark Duffy tripped up Holmes in the box and the decision was a penalty.Former Doncaster man and fan favourite at the Keepmoat JAMES HAYTER blasted past Sam Johnstone to give the home side the lead.Under half an hour left and Yeovil led.
The last moments of what had been a boring final twenty minutes had Yeovil attacking.Joe Edwards headed onto the post and had the ball scrambled away by the defence and Shane Duffy hit a low strike over the bar.
The end saw Yeovil fans leave smiling, but because Charlton and Barnsley also won,it bemoans Doncaster.
VIEWS FROM THE TOUCHLINE
YEOVIL TOWN BOSS GARY JOHNSON
It's important when you're near the bottom of the league that you keep your shape and create chances, and we did that."
"It wasn't pretty but it's not easy to play on that pitch at the minute with all the rain we've had. Everyone put a shift in and credit to the team - they deserve it."
YEOVIL MIDFIELDER KEVIN DAWSON
"It's a good win for sure. The lads had to put in a hell of an effort due to the windy conditions and we withstood any obstacles potentially faulting the game plan."
DONCASTER BOSS PAUL DICKOV
"I thought it was a scrappy game. The conditions and the pitch didn't help us play the way we wanted."
"We've created two or three great chances when we were on top in the second half before their penalty.I've not seen the penalty but at the time I thought it was correct. James (Husband) hasn't made any real complaints about it."
"I felt we should have also had a penalty. I'm not an advocate of players getting sent off, but their lad has swung his arm and smashed Bongani Khumalo in his mouth."
