ZICO SHORTLISED FOR PALACE JOB

Former international Brazilian superstar Zico has suddenly become a candidate for the vacancy at Crystal Palace following Ian Holloway's departure.

Zico,60,has managed in several countries and in 2009 he applied to become Newcastle manager,but wasn't successful.

He began his managerial career as the head coach of the Japan National team after the 2002 World Cup.He improved form slightly but left the post in May 2006 to become Turkish giants Fenerbaçhe manager,a popular move with the fans.

The club finished second in the league and were successful in the Champions League in the 2007/08 season.His success caught the attention of a club who will be less known in Europe and the world-Bunyodkor Tashkent of Uzbekistan.He won the Uzbek league with the club and the Uzbek equivalent of the FA Cup in 2008.

This talent of a set of managerial skills and he was appointed the manager of CSKA Moscow in March 2009.However,he was sacked three months later due to poor form and fallouts with the fans.Just two weeks later,he moved to Olympiacos of Greece in January 2010.

His resignation shocked fans though.However,he made the whole nation of Iraq buzz when he was made their national team manager.Hundreds of children crowded around him to have him sign their shirts.He aimed to get Iraq to the World Cup in Brazil as it was his home country.But a poor run saw him yet again sacked.

His return to management was at Qatari side Al-Gharfa,which he has embraced so far.
